7 quick questions with the Chin Twins
We are long-time fans of Kimmy and Crissy of the Chin twins. The twin sisters’ elegance goes way beyond their amazing yoga poses that leave us both inspired and in envy. We love their spirit and generosity in sharing their love for yoga and fashion. It is amazing how they are able to mix their twin relationship with their passions in such an aesthetic way.
We just love following their Instagram account and seeing their latest artwork and the photos taken by Crissy’s husband Nigel Barker (yes - the Nigel Barker one from American Top Model(!)).
We are so excited that we have had the chance to interview the Chin twins and to share it with you. Enjoy!
Who are you and what do you do?
We are Kimmy and Crissy of @chintwins! We are both mothers and yoga teachers. We share an Instagram account together and hope to spread a message of love and connection through our posts about yoga, health, and wellness.
How did you get started?
Our account began as a way for us to stay connected, one of us lives in New York and the other in Alabama. When our youngest children started school we both got certified as yoga teachers and began to document our journey on Instagram. Our account has grown into a fun platform of fashion, fitness and sisterly fun! Crissy’s husband @NigelBarker takes all of our pictures so it’s a family affair creating the images we love to share on social media.
Do you see being a twin as a strength or weakness in getting to where you are today?
It has always been one of our greatest strengths having one another and being twins. It has always been part of our identity growing up, and has given us comfort having such a strong connection to someone else. We could not imagine what it would be like on this earth without each other.
What's your favorite twin moment?
When we were little our family and friends would refer to us as sister “ go get sister” or “ hi sister”. They never knew which one was which so it was easier just to call us both sister. When I was in third grade for a spelling test I had to write out a sentence and I referred to Crissy as sister, the teacher marked it wrong and I got an argument with her that this was actually the proper grammar to call her sister instead of by her real name. It took a while for me to get used to calling her by her real name instead of “sister”.
When you argue, how long does it take for you to become friends?
We rarely argue it was something our parents never tolerated growing up. But if we ever do have a misunderstanding it is usually quickly resolved within a few days. We talk and text several times a day even though we live in separate cities, we try not to let small things come between us.
What do you think everyone should know about being twins?
It is the greatest blessing to be born with a twin by your side. You are never alone and you have one of the greatest connections anyone could ever dream of.
How would you rock a Twinning Store t-shirt?
We would definitely rock a T-shirt doing a crazy acro yoga pose.
