Twin Insights from a Twin Dad

Being twins we are always curious what it is like to raise twins. We have previously interviewed twin moms, but wanted to know more about a twin dad's perspective. Lucky for us, twin dad, Travis Durham, agreed to let us ask him some questions about his experience raising his twin boys. 

1. Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Travis Durham and I am a twin dad. I'm a 35 year old Accountant from South Carolina; my twins are 2.5 years old and identical.

2. What fascinates you the most about twins (especially your own)?

I was always fascinated by twins, and so I was very happy excited when I found out we were having twins. I think it's really cool that they will be able to grow up and have someone "just like" them.

3. What was the biggest fear you had going into being a twin dad?

I had the same fears as a normal parent because it was my first time. Mostly, a fear of not knowing what I'm doing, and now there's two of them.

 

4. What has surprised you the most about your twins?

Their different personalities. Even at this age, they're so different.

5. What is the number one myth about having twins you would like to debunk?

As their parents, we can tell them apart pretty easy, even if no one else can. We were so worried at birth that we left ribbons on their ankles. But we realized we could see the small differences.

6. Is there any advice about having twins you wish you had been given?

If you blink, you'll miss the first year. Find a way to slow everything down.
