7 quick questions with the NYC-based twinfluencers, The Twinning Team
We recently got the chance to interview the twin duo, Chantelle and Chanelle, behind the Twinning Team (cool name or what). The NYC-based twin sisters are fashionistas who share their great sense of style with the world through their Instagram.
Read on to learn about their journey, their favorite twin moment and whether they fight! Enjoy!
1. WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU DO?
We are Chantelle and Chanelle, fashion industry girls of Caribbean heritage, currently calling NYC home. Chanelle is a Design Product Development Sr. Manager and Chantelle is a Retail Buyer.
2. HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
Chanelle has always had dreams of the fashion industry. She received her BFA in design with a concentration on special occasions from FIT and has been developing her talents in the high fashion industry for almost a decade.
If there was a fashion equivalent to a sous chef in fashion Chantelle would be it. While also a creative person, her pursuits of fashion as a career came later in life.
3. DO YOU SEE BEING A TWIN AS A STRENGTH OR WEAKNESS IN GETTING TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
It has been sort of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you have a constant companion, we never feel alone or have a desire to belong. However on the other hand, because we do not need that external validation or need for acceptance from other people; we do tend to self-isolate.
4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TWIN MOMENT?
At one point we worked for the same company(in different divisions) it was extremely confusing for our teams for a month, but it was also comforting knowing your best friend was a few floors away.
We shared a picture together on the company portal so that moment in time is forever memorialized.
5. WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MEMORY OF BEING TWINS?
The elementary school we attended had several sets of twins. I think seeing other pairs of people who shared that same connection made us more aware of what it meant to be a twin.
6. WHEN YOU ARGUE, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOU TO BECOME FRIENDS?
In our younger years it would have taken days, but with growth comes maturity. We are able to address disagreements head-on, voice each of our grievances and move on within an hour.
7. WHAT DO YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BEING TWINS?
-That we are just like any other sibling, we just share the same birthday.
-We want to be treated as individuals
-The word twin should be used as an adjective and not a noun
